It is difficult making plans with the rest of the family when the kids are in school and you are at work. However, when it is time for the holidays, making decisions is a lot easier. It is wise to make plans in advance since others are most likely going on  holiday trips as well. Here are some things to do on holiday that you might want to consider.

Teach your kids to cook

For this activity you won’t even need to leave home, you just need your kids and your kitchen and a list of easy cook recipes you can teach them. You might also have other dishes in mind that you have wanted to try and cook but have not had the time. Cooking is a great activity, all the family can and it doesn’t need to cost you a lot.

Go camping

If you are planning to introduce your kids to the great outdoors, you might want to take them camping. Just plan in advance so you can ask for permission from local landowners. If you don’t want to head anywhere else, you can just go camping in your back garden. You can even have a campfire at night and enjoy a barbecue.

Do a movie marathon

How many movies do you still have to watch because you haven’t had the time? This is your chance to finally catch up watching all those movies. It is a holiday, so you can watch as many movies as you want. You can also schedule them so that at certain times, you can watch films that are child-friendly.

Try kayaking

This might seem like an extreme activity especially if you are not an outdoorsy type of person. However, it is a great activity to experience. You can paddle through canals, rivers, and lakes. This may seem a struggle at first whilst you are still learning how to use the equipment but eventually, with a bit of practise it can be a very relaxing activity. Once you have tried it, you will be back for more.

Visit the countryside

You might also want to take your kids to the countryside, show them to life in a rural area. You don’t want them to grow up seeing only one type of environment. You can visit farms or fishing villages. You can also go to the areas where interesting communities live so that they will have a deeper understanding of other people’s cultures and traditions.

Take a biking trail

Nothing can be more relaxing than taking a bike ride. If there is a biking trail in your local area, give it a try. Of course, you can’t bring your kids for this trip, but you can use this as a special bonding experience with your partner. It is also a healthy activity that can replace your cardio gym exercises.

You won’t get the chance to do all these activities once you are back to work. Whist you  can, make the most of it.
